The History of the Ferry Farm:

The former Balsa Spinning Factory inaugurated its work in the early 20th half of the 19th century. This is an important testimony of industrial archeology that used the water of the Ferreira River, partially diverted to this effect. In the summer season it needed a steam engine for its operation. In the vicinity of the factory building is the 18th century chapel of the Ferry dedicated to St. Anthony that allowed the worship of workers and residents of the place. The granite bridge, existing in the surrounding, of downcast arch was made at the expense of the factory, for its use. Downstream of this there is the balsa bridge, of heritage importance and next to which is a levada that serves a mill and a irrigation also called the Ferry.

In the mid-1950s, the Balsa Spinning Factory, which had been founded in 1860 and dedicated to spinning and spraining cotton, closed its doors. It was an innovative factory because it used the waters of the Ferreira River as the driving force of its production. For private use of this industry, there was also a thermoelectric power plant that already operated in 1928 producing energy until 1943.

Excellent business for agricultural, besides being able to acquire a property of great historical value within the district of Porto.
